Fructosamine Calibrators

Fructosamine calibrators are reference materials used in laboratory testing to standardize the measurement of fructosamine levels in biological samples, such as blood or serum. These calibrators contain known concentrations of fructosamine, allowing laboratory technicians to create a calibration curve against which the fructosamine levels can be accurately determined.

Calibrators typically come in a set of multiple vials or solutions, each with a known concentration of fructosamine covering a range that spans the expected levels found in patient samples. During the testing process, the laboratory tech measures the absorbance or other relevant properties of each calibrator solution using a spectrophotometer or other analytical instrument. This data is then used to construct a calibration curve, which relates the measured signal to the concentration of fructosamine.

Once the calibration curve is established, technicians can analyze samples by measuring their absorbance or other relevant properties and comparing them to the calibration curve to determine the concentration of fructosamine present in the sample. This allows for accurate quantification of fructosamine levels in biological samples, which is important for monitoring glycemic control in individuals with diabetes mellitus or other conditions where fructosamine levels are relevant.
