Canine albumin

Canine albumin refers to the albumin protein found in the blood of dogs. Albumin is a globular protein produced primarily by the liver and serves various essential functions in the body, including maintaining colloidal osmotic pressure, transporting hormones, fatty acids, and other substances, and contributing to the regulation of blood pH.

In dogs, as in other mammals, albumin plays a crucial role in maintaining proper fluid balance within the circulatory system and ensuring the transportation of various molecules throughout the body. Measurement of canine albumin levels can be important in veterinary medicine for assessing the health status of dogs, as abnormalities in albumin levels can indicate underlying health conditions such as liver disease, kidney disease, malnutrition, or inflammation.
