Calcium Arsenazo

Calcium arsenazo is a chemical compound often used in analytical chemistry for the detection and quantification of calcium ions (Ca^2+) in aqueous solutions. It belongs to a class of compounds known as arsenazo dyes, which are characterized by their ability to form stable complexes with metal ions, resulting in color changes that can be detected spectrophotometrically.

Calcium arsenazo typically forms a red-colored complex with calcium ions, and the intensity of the color is proportional to the concentration of calcium ions present in the solution. This property makes it useful for various applications in biochemistry, environmental science, and medical diagnostics, where accurate measurement of calcium levels is important.

The chemical structure of calcium arsenazo consists of an arsenazo dye molecule complexed with calcium ions, resulting in the formation of a stable coordination compound. The specific structure and properties of calcium arsenazo may vary depending on the exact formulation and synthesis method used.
