Arsenazo-III Assays

The Arsenazo III assay is a chemical method used for the quantitative determination of calcium in biological samples, such as blood serum or urine. Arsenazo III is a dye compound that forms a complex with calcium ions, leading to a color change that can be measured spectrophotometrically.

In this assay, a sample containing calcium ions is mixed with Arsenazo III reagent. The Arsenazo III forms a colored complex with calcium ions in the sample. The intensity of the color is directly proportional to the concentration of calcium ions present in the sample. Therefore, by measuring the absorbance of the colored complex at a specific wavelength using a spectrophotometer, the concentration of calcium in the sample can be determined.

The Arsenazo III assay is used in laboratories to assess calcium levels in biological fluids. It provides a rapid and reliable method for quantifying calcium levels with high sensitivity and accuracy.
