Albumin Assays

Albumin assays are laboratory tests used to measure the concentration of albumin in biological samples such as blood, urine, or cerebrospinal fluid. Albumin is a protein produced by the liver and is the most abundant protein in human blood plasma, accounting for about half of the total protein content. There are several methods for performing albumin assays, including colorimetric, immunoturbidimetric, and immunoassay techniques. The choice of method depends on factors such as sensitivity, specificity, cost, and the equipment available in the laboratory.
